Okay, time to write in 3rd person again... Jeff Abitz raced his Specialized Epic mountain bike (Thank you Recyclist Bicycle Co.) covering about 70 miles of mostly single track in 6:15:25. With about three hours left to race, a large stick took out a spoke in his rear Roval wheel (image below). After nursing his bike "Phillip" for about 20 minutes, he noted the wheel remained fairly true. Race pace restored, this 50 year old finished five minutes behind the 25 year old winner.
