"TOAD" is 11 consecutive days of high level and high speed criterium racing action in Wisconsin. Dan Naef was recruited to guest ride on another high level team for a few days. With an opportunity like that, of course our team gave him our blessings! The first race of the Wisconsin Endurance Mountain Bike Series (WEMS) commenced with the punchy, old school, hand built single track of the Alpine Valley Ski Resort. Diablo Cycling's Jeff Abitz began his 6 hour category race in gentle rain and smiled more as the rain come down harder, rendering the course slippery and treacherous. About two hours later, Jeff took, and kept the overall lead, beating two E-bikers in the process.
