June 1, 2, & 3, 2019
3-DAYS, 4-TRIATHLONS, 140+ MILES = 1-EPIC EVENT.
In the words of Scot Rajsich:
"Triple-T is an epic event for Triathlon Athletes.. It is at Salt Lake State Park in South Eastern Ohio.. very beautiful area... and hilllly...
4 races in 3 days.
They have XT and ST events. XT is "long course".
Friday is Super T, basically a warm-up race - super short triathlon.
It was an all-out effort (250 yard swim, 3 mile bike and 1 mile run).
Saturday morning is the Olympic Distance race (1 mile swim, 24.55-mile bike and 6.55-mile run).
3 hours later, we did the same course but this time we biked first, then swam, than ran.
That was one of the hardest things I have ever done...
Sunday, due to safety (raining, poor road conditions and some medical concerns the day before),
I decided to do the short course...smart move.
Weekend totals: 3 miles of swimming, 20+ miles of running, and 80+ miles biking with
8,150 feet (21% maximum) of climbing. I looked forward to 3% grades as a relief.
Descents were scary 90-degree turns, on terrible roads, then straight back up.
Maximum speeds, in races, were 43, 47, and 45.6 mph.
Finishing was goal vs. placing..."
