Gravel Worlds has race distances of 31, 75, 150 and 300 miles. Oh course Diablo Racing's John Bessey entered the longest, 300 mile event. This race was completely self supported (no team vehicles, hand outs). Only race provided support on route stops was allowed. The course consisted of 300 miles of rolling gravel and dirt roads with 17,956 feet of elevation gained. 139 started, 77 finished. John was 30th. In his words "Mentally (and possibly physically) the hardest ride I’ve ever done." So it must of been good! The Crusher - Enhanced Gravel Adventure 100 mile event is not a race to be first, but a challenge to finish. Such is the theme for most of the events put on by the Non-Profit 906 Adventure Team 906adventureteam.com/ Diablo Cycling's Jeff Abitz and Adam Koenig chose Sunday, August 14th (you have three months to do this) to leave their typical racer mindsets at home as they joined two other past Crusher veterans in touring the remote roads and trails of the Michigan U.P. 129 miles later they finished in the dark, to the usual pageantry of an empty parking lot...and it was good. Finishing Times (or whenever their bike computers were turned off): Adam Koenig: 16:47:23 Jeff Abitz - 16:48:59 Full Results: https://crushergravel.com/details/results/ Jeff's Ride Statistics: Distance: 128.89 miles Total Ascent: 7,650 feet Total Decent: 7,693.6 feet Average Temperature: 57 degrees F Average Moving Speed: 10 mph Maximum Speed: 35 mph - Jabitz

Nevermind the consistent rain, 2022 brought the largest racer count in Ore to Shore's multi decade history. Traversing some of the most scenic terrain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, racers were treated with a downtown roll out, a course to allow plenty of passing, lakes, rivers, ponds and enough single track to challenge all facets of mountain biking XC racing. Area rain made the course slick, muddy, and fun (for some). Notable performances include road/gravel/mountain bike racer Dan Naef with a 3rd out of 100 and Gavin Post with a 4th out of 296! Here is how the Diablos did: Hard Rock (48 Mile Point-to-Point) Soft Rock (28 Mile Point-to-Point) Shore Rock (10 Mile) - Jabitz
Back by popular demand is the penultimate WORs race for 2022. Each 6 mile lap consisted of flowy single track, short climbs, some loose sand, and roots. Additional challenge opportunity provided by rain soaked, as in SLICK, course conditions. The Dipiazza boys and the Post father and son combo raced great! Here is how the Diablos did: Sport Men 13-14 (7 total) Andrew Dipiazza - 2nd Sport Men 15-16 (12 total) Samuel Dipiazza - 6th Sport Men 45-49 (9 total) Peter Post - 6th Citizen Men 11-14 (15 total) Vincent Dipiazza - 15th Citizen Men 15-16 (9 total) Ashton Post - 7th Junior Boys 9-10 (12 total) Dominic Dipiazza - 3rd Junior Boys 13-14 (14 total) Gavin Post - 7th Full Results: my.raceresult.com/213176/ Below are free FocalShare www.focalflamestore.com/RoadCycling/Refo-Ramble-WORS images courtesy of Trek Bikes: Last WORS event for 2022: WORS #8 - Treadfest: 8/28/22 www.bikereg.com/treadfest Full WORS Schedule: www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/wors/ - Jabitz
Last week it was a gravel race podium, this week it was a road race podium. After covering breaks the first couple laps, Dan Naef went solo in the last 10 miles and was edged out on the final finishing climb. Regardless, 2nd place in the WI State Championships is a Big Deal!
Dan's race consisted of three 13.5 mile laps, each with 954 feet of climbing. - Jabitz

Since 1999 Mile Forest has been the destination for those who like to do it "all night long". Well, one Diablo did just that. With a goal of riding until the morning light, 24 hour first timer Adam Koenig did just that, with a solid midpack finish. Jeff Abitz and John Bessey both made the podiums in the 12 hour Solo (is Jabitz getting soft or old???) and Greg Cullen/Ryan Weyers got 3rd (see below). As per usual the DiPiazza boys were there with Sam and Andrew earning a 1st place. 24-Hour Solo Male - 11 total Adam Koenig - 6th 12-Hour Solo Male - 12 total John Bessey - 3rd 12-Hour Solo Male Masters (40 and over) - 18 total Jeff Abitz - 1st 6-Hour 2 Person Male Masters (40 and over) Greg Cullen & Ryan Weyers - 3rd 6-Hour 2 Person Male Junior (Under 18) Samuel DiPiazza & Andrew DiPiazza - 1st Vincent DiPiazza & Dominic DiPiazza - 4th Full Results: my.raceresult.com/213177/ Below images can be purchased from: www.xtrphoto.com/2022/Wausau24-Mountain-Bike-Race?fbclid=IwAR2RJqfM09Zk21VTAgegqbNMzlq9s3dmHbPQ2nSGHcNhRrkwAYcyzTPJAv8 - Jabitz
