After missing last years race, Jeff Abitz returned to this super chill, grass roots (roots, get it?) middle distance mountain bike endurance race. Goal: Complete as many 5.4 laps of jeep road and hand built single track in six hours as possible. With a couple minutes to go, Jeff Abitz pedaled his aging bones across the finish line, with the winning total of 11 laps. 6 Hour (20 total) Jeff Abitz - 1st - Jabitz

Criterium Racing is about continuous improvement, both in learning the tactics, and catering your fitness. This discipline has been compared to a "a chess game", where the other riders are to be treated as your pawns. Part of your strategy is to place them to your advantage. Of course, most of them are thinking the same about you! Now that was a good and proper gravel race. A couple hundred adventurous souls descended upon the small town of Laona WI (pop. 524) to ride the varied unpaved paths and roads of the Nicolet National Forest. Riders could choose 31, 71 or 102 mile distances in this sold out event. For many, the primary mission was to take in the beauty of the Northwoods backroads with friends, but for the Diablos, it was to compete!
