Racers were treated with a dry, fast course featuring hay bale switchbacks, natural berms, and course challenging climbs. It's no wonder that this location has a history of hosting WORS, NICA, and UCI mountain bike races. Established in 1983, Chequamegon has grown to become one the most revered mountain bike festivals in the country. Just over 40 miles of rolling terrain that fatigues the racers legs to "jelly". Diablo's Brian Hansen and Joe Coughlin smashed through the gravel sections and slogged thru muddy single track, both finishing strong. Brian had a top 10 category award! The Flambeau 40 is a 35 mile road race loop of rolling hills. Diablo Cycling's "Almost (future fat bike maybe?) Do it all Dan Naef" spiced up the race with plenty of attacks. Off the front, with his lackadaisical break partner, his final attempt was was brought back with three miles to go. Regardless he had a top 5 and great training for his upcoming cyclocross season! Professional and amateur US cyclists converged to put on a fast and (fill in your own adjective) show over Labor Day Weekend. The race prides itself in using four of St. Louis's coolest neighborhoods. Diablo Racing's Brian Davis returned to his home town of St. Louis, and his "criterium core", to race the (mostly) "rectangles of doom" (too much in quotes and parentheses?-sorry), involving wet and slick road conditions. He had an impressive day 1 and a disastrous day 2 (his words not mine). See his results and video below: Men's Masters 40+(46 total) Brian Davis - 19th Full Results: livelynxresults.com/viewrace.php?eventid=10929 Men's Masters 40+(43 total) Brian Davis - 35th Full Results: livelynxresults.com/viewrace.php?eventid=10912 |
