As per usual, it was a muddy course that sucked the energy, power, and focus out of all the brave souls that entered the battle. Jeff Abitz started in the third row (forgot to preregister), and knowing there was a holeshot preme, elected to play it safe in the first straight shootout. Wise choice as there was a crash that forced him to completely stop and partially dismount to avoid drilling a downed rider. Chasing from the back of the 13 man group, including a slow speed endo with some course tape, he was content with his result. Masters 45 Category 1,2,3: Jeff Abitz – 5th

November 17, 2018 Mitchell Park, Milwaukee WI Hosted by: Palomino American Cyclocross pal-ax.racing/ For the second consecutive week, a muddy course had Jeff Abitz licking his chops. Several sketchy off cambers, two deep sand crossings, and a steep, slippery downhill switchback placed skills at a premium. One Diablo made the podium but all who raced went home as better skilled bicyclists...and bike washers. Below are Diablo Cycling team member results with top 5 finishes noted: Masters 45 Category 1,2,3: Jeff Abitz – 3rd Masters 55 Category 1,2,3: John Lichtenberg Elite Category 3: Ethan Janssen Masters 35 Category 3: Michael Sullivan Next weeked is our buddy John Svanda's race (see below)...my personal favorite. - Jabitz
