Race #2 from our buddy George, of Broken Spoke Bike Studio, brought us the rolling grasses and fairways of Hilly Haven Golf Course. With few tight turns, the course emphasized big, sustained power. It felt like a one hour time trial! Yes "power"... which brings us to Jon Lester who earned himself a 3rd place podium in Men's Elite. Diablo Racing Results (Top 10 Noted): Elite (19 riders) Jon Lester - 3rd Brian Davis Advanced (29 riders) Jeff Abitz - 10th Intermediate (78 riders) Adam Koenig Scot Rajsich For full results see: results.itsracetime.com/results.aspx?CId=17095&RId=4241 Below images purchased from: www.xtrphoto.com/ The course in the summer (riding is only allowed when permitted, when like, there's snow) : True to form, Brian Davis made a video below: Warning: He shares his feelings which is good. - Jabitz

Polar Roll A production of The 906 Adventure Team 906adventureteam.com/ January 15 - March 15, 2021 Marquette - Nequanee - Ishpeming MI thepolarroll.com/ www.facebook.com/groups/823174895142784 Monday, January 18, 2021: This "race" was different. After experiencing the insanity of the last two years of mass start racing, Jeff Abitz welcomed the opportunity to just ride. Ride in the woods, take in the scenery, and witness the joy and appreciation of Adam Koenig as he discovered the best snow bike trails on the planet. Diablo Cycling's Jeff Abitz and Adam Koenig took on the "30" (actually about 37) miles of the Polar Roll Long course thepolarroll.com/2021-polar-roll-ex/ consisting of a lap around Presque Isle, the North Trails and the South Trails. There was no finish line pageantry, just a cold Barbaric YAWP Burly Scotch Ale from local brewery Blackrocks, and lots of post ride banter in the parking lot. Saturday, January 16, 2021: A couple days earlier, Diablo John Bessey (below) also completed the Long course. Adventure lives on. Adapt, ride, adventure and live! - Jabitz
Race your fat bike for 15k, then follow with a cornhole toss to reduce your time. Jon and Sally Lester took part in this crazy, one of a kind free event hosted by the Lakeland Area Mountain Biking Organization, Inc (LAMBO) lamboriders.org/. Congratulations to Jon for racing/tossing to a 1st in age and a 2nd place overall finish! - Jabitz
After almost a year of mostly cancelled races, a few Diablos eagerly took the opportunity to race their fat bikes in Race #1 of the Snow Crown four race series. Course conditions were very fast, and reminiscent of the all out intensity of cyclocross racing. Results are provided, but remember for most riders, fat bike racing is not something taken too seriously. The focus is riding fun courses, with the excitement of "real" racing outdoors. Diablo Racing Results (Top 10 Noted) Elite (18 riders) Brian Davis - 9th Advanced (49 riders) Jeff Abitz - 5th overall (1st in 50+) Intermediate (69 riders) Scot Rajsich Adam Koenig For full results see: results.itsracetime.com/results.aspx?CId=17095&RId=4240 Brian Davis (Races) crafted this fine video on his YouTube channel: - Jabitz
