Here's the deal with the Marji Gesick mountain bike race: Participants know going in that they may not make to the finish line. With that deep philosophical stuff out of the way, here is how the hardest one day mountain bike race in America went down for Diablo Cycling:
Congratulations to Jeff (one and done is not a thing) Abitz finishing the "100" mile (actually 113 miles) route and John Bessey finishing the "50" (actually 63 miles) route.
Adam Koenig completed the 65 miles to the Jackson Mine bag drop, but, like over a hundred others, called it a day, put on the beer wristband, and joined the finish line party.
Tim Patterson gave the Duathlon (65 mile bike, 48 mile feet) a go but just missed the 2:00 am time cut he would have needed to finish the last 25 or so miles. He'll be back.
