50% did not finish the 2022 Marji Gesick 100 Mountain Bike Race. I emphasize "finish" because for most, that's all that matters. You fancy yourself an expert mountain biker? Okay. This course will eat your ego, and body alive. 95% single track of rocks, roots, spikey climbs, and the creep factor of riding at night amongst the critters, prevent most from reaching the finish.
Diablo Racing's Adam Koenig spent this Spring and Summer preparing to go the distance on his first attempt, not the 2nd or 3rd like most. Preparations included a 24 hour race, the Crusher 100 (128), and a guided pre-ride of much of the course. "I saved the worst Jackson Mine Pine Park to Jackson Mine Park loop for Adam to experience alone" - Jabitz.
Managing to average 5 mph, well, the man done did it!
